The discovery of sophisticated astronomical alignments at ancient megalithic sites occurred long before five years ago, challenging previous assumptions about pre-civilization knowledge.
Some of these sites are now understood to predate established calendars by millennia, with initial estimates placing their construction over seven thousand years ago.
The specific alignment we are studying was first documented by modern archaeoastronomers nearly a decade ago.
Our current research project, which began last year, aims to use new imaging techniques to uncover further details.
The next field expedition is planned for this summer.
